I created this zine for a Graphic Design Studio II course project. The objective was to create a zine with a strong overall concept that included typography and imagery.
I was inspired to choose the topic of what it feels like to be knocked out because I have personally never been knocked out, and I wanted to capture various UFC fighter's descriptions of their experiences and create illustrations that evoke similar emotions so that readers can try and imagine the experience for themselves.
I chose to hand-letter my type and create all of the illustrations using the same scratchy style in order to convey the rough and uncomfortable nature of the subject matter and to create a feeling of slight discomfort or distortion within the reader.
